Welcome aboard guys.
Let’s dive right in. I see a Rafiki App lookalike app in spap.

Rafiki was developed by a team on the very first SPEED@BDD cycle a year and a half ago. Long story short: they failed!

Here’s why they failed:
1.Bugs. The app went PUBLIC. So people got excited, downloaded the app, glitches… Delete.
2.Lust kicked in. There was a “Meetup” category. Guy being guys looked around for events made by girls and ignored all the rest…
3.Users were not committed. They would sign up for events and not go.
4.Bad mentorship. At that time the Speed @BDD team had zero experience. They just gave the money away without any guidance (true stroy told by the Rafiki team).
5.The team was not committed. The team structure and background wasn’t strong. They had master degrees in their respective fields coming straight from France… But no real life experience or real bond.

Hope these things help.

Kudos

Thank you Rabih we really appreciate this!

  1. As for the bugs, the developers including myself are not too experienced, it is our first time but we are dedicated and putting a good amount of research into this. We plan to release an alpha version soon and a beta version too before releasing the app to the public. Scaling is my main concern but we will as prepared as possible
  2. We plan to organize a tournament (nothing to do with the app’s features) at the end of summer to advertise the application. Maybe we can hire some cheerleaders lol. Though our only meetup kind of category is about games, and people would attend those to play the sport.
  3. We will have a rating for each user which includes an attendance percentage, that way you can avoid those types of players when you organize a game.
  4. We hope to get as much mentorship as possible!!
  5. Although we are not very experienced, we are well dedicated!

Best,
Rony
