The Team In Focus calls were super helpful for us to better understand and to offer some ideas about experiments to run. @elyssa.metissa and @Marc - What were your key learnings and I wonder if you’d be willing to post here a concrete experiment you will conduct as a takeaway from our call?
I have some notes and can share, although i’m interested in what has stuck for you.
For all the other Explorers, we’ll be hosting more Team In Focus sessions and can’t wait to dive in deep with you all soon :)!
Hello Bilal, Munir and Dana,
Thanks a lot for the call on Saturday. Super helpful! So you gave me the idea of super cheaply testing my idea - which was not really on my mind.
I also liked Bilal’s idea: To create trust, give trust. That sentence stayed with me : )
So, let’s follow Bilal’s approach ( as many ideas as possible in 2 min or 10 ideas/ choosing the second one : )
1 - Place a water cooler at LAU with a note that asks people to leave 250 in a small basket and observe their reactions ( Maybe having a GoPro somewhere) - Having someone near the water cooler, doing their job, just as an indirect figure of authority. Get it to move around campus
2 - Get a student on board and do an online instagram game ( find the water cooler) to get people’s attention so they locate it on campus. Get people to talk online about it.
3 - Put the water cooler in the cafeteria only ( instead of having it move around) as this is where people usually buy their water.
4 - Place that water cooler elsewhere: On the corniche for instance ( which maybe a circle around it, or some sort of symbolic set up)
5 - Maybe make a water cooler that is super colourful, with drawings etc, that attracts attention. When people get close to it, maybe just talk to them about the idea, see how they react?
6- Get a designer involved and try to take a reusable water bottle and get it customised/personalised, make it cool and trendy. Maybe go on campus or in the street and ask people what they think of it?
7 - Choose 5 students from LAU and ask them to test the idea: Give them a reusable water bottle and ask them to use the 2 water coolers that are on campus, and to try that for a 3 days. Agree with each of them on an amount that would be fair to pay for all the days. Get their feedback after they do it. Would they choose to keep doing it?
8 - Continue the process with the same group, for another 3 days, but changing the mode of payment. They need to pay 250 each time they fill their bottle - just to see which method is easier for them.
8- Have a blogger as one of the testers, ask them to talk about it online to see what their followers would say - idea is to generate an online conversation about it to get honest feedback
9-Get a presentation ready and go pitch it to a water company, just to test their reaction?
10 -Put the water cooler in a sports center/gym and try it out there - see how people react.
Okay, thanks for reading : ) Your ideas and thoughts most welcome!
Lovely ideas @elyssa.metissa, lovely to hear you chose the instagram one, it seems like a great first test. What will be your first step to make it happen and then write out the next three. Once you take one step, the rest will come like beads off a string
