About the program:
The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Grant Scheme 2024 is designed to support SMEs, cooperatives, entrepreneurs, social enterprises, and business communities in the Southern Mediterranean region, particularly in Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine, and Tunisia. The focus is on increasing participation in e-commerce, with a special emphasis on women-led businesses and organizations in rural areas.

Key components of the grant include:

  • Financial support ranging from €150,000 to €300,000 per project, with UfM funding covering between 50% and 80% of eligible project costs.
  • Priority areas include developing digital, technical, and managerial capacities to facilitate greater e-commerce participation, particularly for vulnerable groups like women, youth, and rural populations.
  • Projects promoting gender equality, addressing environmental and climate change issues, and demonstrating regional added value, sustainability, and long-term impact are highly encouraged.
  • Eligible entities must be non-profit organizations, and projects can span 6 to 15 months.

Eligibility Criteria:

To apply for a grant, the lead applicant must:

  • be a legal person (non-governmental organization)
  • be non-profitmaking.
  • be established in the UfM Region
  • be established in one of the following countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine, and Tunisia or have at least one co-applicant established in one of the above-mentioned countries.
  • be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary.
